Helium Leak Dedectors

Helium leak detectors provide the capability to identify leaks in vacuum systems, thereby preventing potential operational issues that may arise from vacuum loss.

There are two types of helium leak detectors based on their mode of operation:

  1. Vacuum Method: In this method, the test object is connected to the helium leak detector, and the area is evacuated. The operator then sprays helium gas around potential leak points. If a leak is present, the detector identifies the helium and triggers an alert.
  2. Sniffer Method: In this approach, the test object is filled with helium gas. The operator uses a probe, known as a sniffer, to scan areas where leaks are suspected. When helium is detected at a leaking point, the detector issues an alert.
